Most people associate orthodontist langley with straightening teeth, but there is actually a lot more to it than that. Orthodontics is actually a dental specialty that focuses on treating & diagnosing teeth & jaw irregularities – mostly misalignment & occlusion. It also deals with the aesthetic aspect of a patient’s smile.
How much does an orthodontist cost in BC?
To become a certified specialist in orthodontics, dentists must complete a minimum of 12 years of university education from start to finish. This includes a Bachelor of Science degree, a general dentistry residency program & a Master’s Degree in orthodontics. After this they must pass a national dental specialty board certification exam, governed by the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, to become a certified orthodontic specialist.
Once a qualified orthodontist has assessed a patient’s smile, they can prescribe various corrective options to help them achieve the perfect smile. These treatments include fixed braces & removable retainers. Fixed braces consist of a metal or ceramic dental base that is affixed to each tooth, with a dental wire inserted & shaped into the desired shape. This wire is then & regularly adjusted by the orthodontist to ensure that teeth are moving correctly.
