AI Games and the Gaming Industry
With an industry that’s expected to reach $321 billion in 2026, gaming is one of the fastest growing areas for AI. The technology can help game developers create smart NPCs, refine game physics and tailor gameplay to individual players, and even generate new content for the games.Check this out : harianjawatimur.com
Several companies have already introduced games designed entirely by AI, such as Angelina and Puck. But these are more like proof of concept rather than full commercial offerings, says Josh Sawyer, studio design director at Obsidian Entertainment, which has made narratively rich games such as Pentiment and Fallout New Vegas.
Behind the Scenes: How AI Improves Game Testing and QA
The technology also has the potential to help save developers time by analyzing game data and providing insights that would otherwise be difficult to obtain, he adds. For example, an AI could pore over huge 3D model files to compress them without affecting visuals or audio quality. This would free up development time and allow creators to focus on more important tasks.
Other uses for AI in games include generating characters, music and sounds. The generative systems can produce thousands of different combinations and then pick the best ones. Using search techniques, they can look at everything from the rules to graphics and music, and then select and combine them to generate a unique game. This process is known as “sketching” in the game development world. It’s similar to the way a person sketches out a rough outline for a novel or movie script. This allows the designers to focus on the storytelling, character development and other elements of a game.
