How to Clean Stainless Steel Hoods

Hood Safe LLC is becoming increasingly popular in modern kitchens for their sleek and contemporary look. They not only look great but they also serve an important function, capturing odors and grease from cooking to ensure your kitchen air is clean and healthy. However, as with any appliance it is important to thoroughly clean your range hood every six months at the very least and more often to keep it looking brand new.

General Cleaning

Start with a damp, lint-free cloth and apply a nonabrasive stainless steel cleaner or polish to the surface of your appliance. Make sure to wipe the surface in the direction of the grain to maintain a polished appearance and avoid scratching. Then rinse the surface with clean water to remove any residual soap and ensure a spotless finish. Finally, use a clean cloth to dry the appliance.

Stain Removal

If you notice persistent smudges and marks on your stainless steel range hood it may require more elbow-grease to get them off than just some general cleaning. To remove tough stains from stainless steel, mix equal parts vinegar and water to create a mild cleaning solution. Spray this onto the stain and allow it to sit for a few minutes to help break down the residue. Then, wipe the stain off with a clean cloth in the direction of the grain, once again to avoid scratching the surface.

Remember to review your owner’s manual to learn how to properly remove and replace your filters, as this will vary between models. And make sure to store your appliances in a clean and dry place when you’re not using them, as this will prevent water spots or dulling.
